Fort Myers beach offers so many fun activities and things to do. We have been watching amazing sunsets, and seeing many dolphins at play. The manatees are leaving the cooler open waters for more sheltered areas but we still see them out feeding on the flats. Capt Mike has been having a great time with his fishing charters. Here is a recent Fort Myers Beach fishing report from Capt Mike: Another steady red fish bite in Estero Bay. Live shrimp placed around the mangroves in areas with moving water has been working great! This week has seen a huge increase in the number of reds, common for this time of year, however keeping in mind that a vast majority of these new arrivals are just short of the 18″ mark. Do not discredit these smaller reds, they are hungry and aggressive, giving anglers an enjoyable bout on the light tackle. Mixed in with all the short reds are plenty of mid slot fish as well as some really healthy sheepshead making an early arrival. Find yourself in a mess of sheepshead, Capt. Mike recommends down sizing your shrimp to just a chunk or bite size piece as this will reduce a lot of lost bait and frustration. Expect to see an explosion of trout this week and into the next couple months. With the sea trout open all year, hit the grass flats with popping corks or bouncing live shrimp along the bottom in areas of fast water.
