What happens if the weather is bad?

We will cancel a tour due to heavy rain, lightening, unsafe weather, etc. We are prone to isolated storms that last for 30ish minutes or so. It can be raining across the street and sunny over your place. So if the water looks rough from your balcony, please keep in mind that is probably not what it looks like where we will be going for the cruise. There is a chance for rain nearly everyday of the year and our weather forecasts are often wrong, so please try not to let the forecast dictate how you plan your activities. In the Summer months, rain showers can materialize while we are out and we do our best to keep everyone comfortable as the rain passes. We will call you if the radar indicates unsafe conditions for your tour and hope to postpone/ or reschedule if possible and those calls are made the day of the scheduled tour. If we cancel a trip for any reason, there is no charge.

Is this the right tour company for me?

We would like to think so but we know we are not always a perfect fit. Our tours are educational, cruise at about 15 mph, and we have a high respect for wildlife. True nature lovers, birders, and those willing to accept wildlife and its unpredictability are always a good match with us.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice may result in a 100% penalty. No shows receive no refund. Same day cancellations receive no refund. No refunds if you miss the boat.

What should we bring for our cruise?

Feel free to bring snacks and beverages (yes, adult bevies are fine) on any of our trips, and don’t forget sunblock! No spray or aerosol sunblock please. If your tour includes shelling, dress for the beach and bring bags or buckets to carry your shells.

Is there a bathroom on board?

Yes, there is. Just ask your crew if you need to access it. Our tour boat also has plenty of shade & comfortable seating.

Do we need to make reservations?

Pleeeaaase make reservations in advance. Everything runs more smoothly when you have reservations.  Feel free to stop by for a tour but please understand we may not have a tour available for you.

How soon should we make reservations?

It is really never too early but if you prefer not to plan too far in advance this is what we recommend:

  • For the “Coastal Sealife, Dolphin and Shelling Cruise” from February to May – 1 week in advance at least. For the rest of the year – 3 days in advance.
  • For the afternoon dolphin cruise – 2 days in advance.
  • For the Sunset cruise from February to May – 4 days in advance, and for the rest of the year – 2 days in advance.
  • All private charters from November to May – 1 month in advance, and for the rest of the year, 2 weeks in advance.

These are just guidelines and do not come with guarantees. Please by all means, call us last minute for a tour in case we have availability. Please do not be disappointed if you show up without a reservation and we are unable to accommodate you. Making advance reservations also helps us meet our minimum of 6 for the tours during our slower months (August thru February).

What kind of boat is it?

We cruise on a very stable 38′ power catamaran named Phoenix. She is our “rising from the ashes” boat from losing vessel Good Times to a fire in 2013. She has a bimini top for shade, a bathroom on board, and bench style seating. She is equipped with twin 200HP outboards and we even installed jack plates on them to allow for shallow water boating so we can tour the shallow water estuary at any tide without disturbing the sea floor. The dolphins love her and often swim over to us when they see us coming!

Is the boat handicap accessible?

Yes, the gate opening is 31″ wide and can allow a standard wheelchair to roll onto the boat. There are 2 steps into the bathroom, and on the Shelling cruises there are 2 steps to get off the boat onto the island (or you can stay on board with the captain in the shade).
